ホワイトサンド国定記念物　White Sands National Monument

珍しい真っ白な砂の砂漠です。貝殻などではなく、石膏でできているそうです。近くに軍事施設があるので、周辺の道路は軍用車両がたくさん通って、ものものしかったです。
This white dune is made of gypsum sands - NOT of broken shells as are the case with some seaside white beaches. As there was an important military facility nearby, lots of military vehicles went to and fro near the park.
