日本で言えば、「○○大観音像」といったところでしょうか。客寄せ狙いもここまで露骨だと、なんだか微笑ましくなってしまいます。映画「北北西に進路を取れ」の舞台にもなった所で、アメリカ人の間では有名な観光スポットです。
ちなみに、山で出会ったこの野生のヤギは、おとなしそうな顔をしていますが、実は気性が荒くて、写真を撮ろうとカメラを向けただけで、こちらに角を向けて、威嚇してきました。
This monument could be compared to a large Bhuddist figure in Japan in the sense that both have been built simply for the purpose of attracting tourists to a place where few would otherwise dare to come. Anyway, Mt. Rushmore is a fairly famous tourist spot in USA, pictured in the movie "North by Northwest."
The wild goat I saw in the mountain, though looked rather gentle, was very aggresive that he tried to menace me with the horns when I took the photo.
