アフリカのサファリで「ビッグ５」と呼ばれるのが、象、ライオン、サイ、ヒョウ、バッファローですが、その中で圧倒的に出会うのが難しいのがヒョウです。ツアーでそういう話をしていると、「ここにもヒョウのファンがいたぞ」と言われましたので、みんな同じ気持ちのようです。昼間に見ることはできず、夜間サファリでの熟練ガイドの案内で、やっと出会えました。
"Big Five"of African safari are elephant, lion, rhino, leopard and buffalo. Among them leopards are by far the most difficult to see. When we were talking about that, they said "Here we have another leopard fan." This sentiment appeared to be shared by many. I couldn't see any in daytime and finally saw one at night safari by a veteran guide.
