網走刑務所は「番外地」というイメージから人里離れた原野にあるものとばかり思っていましたが、こんなに町の近くにあるとは驚きでした。
Abashiri Prison is famous in Japan thanks to a movie featuring the inmates thereof. I was astonished that the prison was located so close to the downtown, if there is any downtown in this small city.
