定番の観光地ですが、本来は地元民にとっての聖地です。そのため、それに応じた敬意を払うべき場所なのですが、（例によって？）日本人観光団のために辟易させられるはめになりました。私は英語グループのツアーに参加しており、そばに日本人の団体客がいて、添乗員が参加者に大騒ぎしないように注意していたのですが、その言い方がひどかった：「うるさく騒ぐと白人の人が怒りますから、静かにしてくださいね」って言ってるんですよ！これって、子どもに対して、どうして悪いのかを説明しないで、「隣のおじさんが怒るからダメよ」というのと同じレベルですし、しかも、「白人の人が」というあたりは人種劣等感丸出しですね。自分が彼ら・彼女らと同じ日本人であることが恥ずかしくて、日本人であることがバレないようにコソコソさせられてしまいました。(-_-#)
Fern Grotto is a famous tourist spot. Yet it has been a sacred site for local habitants and visitors shall pay respect to it. At this very place I encountered a damn group of Japanese tourists. While I was there in an English-speaking tour group, a group of Japanese also came there and its tour conductor advised to the participants "Please don't be noisy, otherwise white men might scold you!" What an unitelligent and ignoble expression! It had nothing to do with the reason we should be quiet on the spot but that one should do so only to avoid angriness by others. Also, her use of the word 'white men' showed nothing but the feeling of racial inferiority of her race. I was deeply ashamed of being a Japanese just like those people.
