私が訪れた時は、レーガン政権の影響が残っていて、民生予算の大幅カットのため、公園の一部には、「予算がないので公開停止中」という札がかかっていました。軍事費優先なのかもしれませんが、私などから見れば、この大自然こそがアメリカの偉大さとして世界に誇れるものだと思うんですけどねえ．．．
I visited the park soon after Reagan Administration. Some spots in the park were closed with the sign "Closed because of budget restriction." While US military power was the symbol of the strength of USA for Mr. Reagan, for me it is this great nature that truly and heartfully symbolizes the greatness of USA.
