太古の樹木が石化して、宝石のようになって転がっている、アメリカでも珍しい公園です。公園の出口では、化石を持ち出してないかチェックがあるのですが、ただ口で聞かれるだけで、いいえと答えたら、パークレンジャーがはじけるような心からの笑顔で手を振ってさよならをしてくれました。アメリカ人のこういうところは大好きです。
This is a unique park with wood of the ancient time petrified into jewel-like form. At park gates they checked if visitors picked up and tried to take away petrified wood or anything in the park - which was of course forbidden. When I answered "No," the park ranger gave me a heartful, sunshine-like smile and said good-bye. I love this manner of Americans.
