グランドキャニオン近郊にある、先住民族ハバスパイ族の村です。熱い乾燥地帯にあるだけに、エメラルド色の水を湛えた滝の清涼感が素晴らしかったです。私は、グランドキャニオンからヘリコプターのツアーで訪れたのですが、道路もあるらしく、キャンプ場で何組もの家族連れがキャンプしていて、滝壺で遊んでいました。私が着いた後、風が強<なり、「帰りのヘリは欠航になるかもしれない。その場合は、待合室でざこ寝だ。」と言われました。美しい場所だし、それもおもしろいなと思っていたのですが、残念ながら(?)、ヘリが飛べて、日帰りで終わってしまいました。
A village of Havasupai tribe located near Grand Canyon. In the midst of hot and dry area, these waterfalls appeared to be an oasis with emerald-green pools. I visited this village by a helicopter tour from Grand Canyon. There also seemed to exist an automobile road, for several families were there at a camping site. After my arrival the wind got fiercer and they warned me that return flight might be cancelled, in which case we should stay at night in the waiting room. I said to myself, "Wow! It should be interesting." Unfortunately(?), a helicopter eventually came to take us back to the normal life.
