芸術の都として名高いウイーンですが、フィレンツェやパリ中心部のように街全体が芸術・文化であるという感じではなく、薫り高い部分と雑然とした部分や頽廃的な部分とが混在している感じを受けました。映画「第三の男」の舞台になったのもなるほどと頷かせる雰囲気の街です。
私が王宮を訪れたときには、ちょうど当時のローマ法王ヨハネス・パウロ２世が訪問されていて、数ｍ先を通る姿を見ることができました。
Wien (Vienna) is known as the "capital of art." I didn't feel, however, that the whole city was filled with art and culture like Firence, Italy, or central Paris. Rather it seemed to me that here decency and culture were mingled with chaos and decadance. It isn't without reason that the movie "Third Man" was taken here under its decadent atmosphere.
Photos: Hofburg (Royal Palace) and Burg Theater. When I visited Royal Palace, Pope Johannes Paulo II happened to be there, too. I was lucky to see him pass by just a few meters away.
